Project description: We worked directly with the client to design, produce, and install this bespoke kitchen. The aim was to create a contemporary shaker design with less frame than a traditional in-frame kitchen. This led us to slimming down the proportions of the solid ash door rails and stiles, mixing in flat drawer fronts and using a single dividing post between each cabinet rather than a full frame surrounding the doors. Our clients wanted the under stairs cabinetry to appear more like panelling, so we brought the doors up to the staircase and down to the floor then painted them to match the stairs. The island was designed to have the feel of a free-standing piece of furniture rather than a fitted kitchen unit. For the external areas of the kitchen, we used a paint finish that allowed the beautiful, textured grain of the ash wood to show through.
